I hadn't even looked at this blog in a very long time, so I was happily surprised when I returned to it and read my old posts.
In this day and age, the habit of keeping a diary is one that few people maintain. Reading my own thoughts as a retrospective is cathartic - it helps to put time into a measurable perspective. Maybe life isn't flowing by me at a chaotic pace, after all. Something tangible - lasting, even - happened in the months past that I thought were lost....
There once may have been an expectation of 'audience' when publishing thoughts to a public space such as this. What I realize now is that it is as much a conversation with myself in formulating a thought and expressing it in writing. That's not so bad. What I have discovered in reading these old thoughts anew, is that the audience is really ME. Kind of like talking to yourself on a crowded bus. Sort of.
(I don't really mind if anyone else happens upon it, and if you do find yourself here, feel free to leave me a comment)
